MASTER GARDENERS

To connect with a master gardener, call Solano County’s UC Cooperative Extension. Jennifer Baumbach, Master Gardener Program Coordinator, will do her best to pair you with a Master Gardener volunteer who can consult on your school garden.

RED WORMS AND SEEDS

Loma Vista Farm is a program of the Vallejo City Unified School District. Funding is also provided by the nonprofit, Friends of Loma Vista Farm. The Farm offers hands-on agriculture education to students and is open to the public. The Farm consists of 5 acres of organic produce, orchards and gardens. It is home to a variety of farm animals and boasts a large greenhouse with plants for sale year round.
To support other school gardens, Loma Vista Farm shares extra seeds that were donated and red worms for composting. Contact:

If your garden runneth over, the Urban Farmers at theurbanfarmers.org can help feed the hungry. This grassroots, all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization will send in a team to harvest fresh backyard fruit for donation to the needy.

This nonprofit was started by a Bronx school teacher who wanted public school teachers to
be able to fund projects and experiences for their students that were not funded
through school district allocations. The website connects individuals directly
with classrooms in need, and the site accepts small contributions as
well as large. This is ideal for a school garden project.
