For the last ten years, Slow Food Solano has given grants to schools throughout Solano County, enabling teachers and volunteers to get students into the garden, to
grow and taste fresh food. Any donation is appreciated. As Slow Food Founder Carlo Petrini noted, “A little is not too much, but nothing is too little.”
You now can double your donation to Slow Food Solano’s School Garden Grant Program 2018, thanks to a generous supporter. KATZ Farm will match up to $400 in donations. Owners Albert and Kim Katz are helping us get the ball rolling this year to replenish Slow Food Solano’s school garden grant coffers.
Slow Food Solano has only $2,400 to distribute among the grant applications that will be submitted beginning in December. Last year, $100 to $300 in grants were given to 17 Solano County schools.
The spirit and purpose of Slow Food are entrenched in the Katz family, farmers in Suisun Valley who grow organic olives on 15 acres. Along with award-winning organic extra virgin olive oils, Katz creates Slow Food Ark of Taste-recognized Orleans Method vinegars. KATZ Farm products are used in the kitchen of Chez Panisse and many national known restaurants across the country. Check out the KATZ products at www.katzfarm.com.
